Vedanta Charitable Trust

Vedanta Charitable Trust is a part of Vedanta Jyoti Eye Hospital which is state of art NABH- approved hospital in Roorkee, Uttarakhand. The idea and need of a charitable trust was born out of the necessity of providing vision to all sections of the rural and urban population who are unable to access any primary eye care. As we know, eyes are meant to appreciate the beauty of the world, experience the joy of learning new activities and undertake new adventures, but there are medically-deprived population, comprised of young school children, who wouldn’t have normal visual & personal development without early diagnosis & treatment.

In the backdrop of this situation, the concept of Vedanta Charitable Trust was established in the year 2020 by Dr. A.K.Mehrotra, Dr. Vipul Arora & Dr. Preeti Arora with the aim to reduce the number of visually challenging population in India. Vedanta Charitable Trust wishes to provide affordable/subsidized eye care services for cataract surgeries, refractive errors, diabetic retinopathy and other medical issues to economically weaker section of the society.

The trust is dedicated to the advancement of eye and vision care through awareness treatment and monitoring, We strive hard to provide utmost care to all the communities by providing comprehensive visual health services.

Goals of the trust:

  • To provide easy access to cataract surgery to everyone.
  • Inability to pay should not come in the way of anyone receiving quality eye care services.
  • To establish and run an eye bank.
  • To mobilize the community to avail quality eye care services.
  • To make the community aware about risk and mode of infective eye diseases.
  • To enhance health seeking behaviour of the community in order to avail eye care services.
  • To open and run eye care centres in the rural areas.
  • To strive to make eye donation as a family tradition.

How can you help?

1. Gift vision to someone: 80 percent of global blindness is treatable or preventable. In fact, more than half of the world's blindness is caused by cataracts, a condition that can be reversed with a 15-minute operation.

2. Gift vision to a child: Childhood blindness is a public health concern. Approximate 1.42 billion children are suffering from blindness across the globe and almost three fourth of these live in a low to middle income countries. 50% of these are caused by avoidable cases. We can give children their right to vision by providing them free of cost surgical and medical treatment.
